Opinion: Re-tool Opportunity in COVID-19 Lockdown?

I’ve been thinking over the last few weeks about this COVID-19 lockdown and if there is anything positive for us to consider.

Not to take anything away from the courageous and wonderful work from our front line workers, food and essential services which are there for the rest of us as we deal with this situation on a daily basis. Plus all the great work our government is doing at all levels, municipal, provincial and federal to help us.

So much of day to day life is now at a stand still around the world and many businesses have answered the call to re-tool in order to supply masks, ventilators, beds, clothing and many other much needed equipment for our nurses, doctors, hospitals, etc.

Speaking of re-tooling, with so many businesses closed would now be a opportune time to re-think and possibly begin the process of re-tooling for a new tomorrow?

Before this crisis began there was a great deal of concern about the “climate”.

Not surprisingly pollution levels have dropped around the globe because of the lockdown and whether you support efforts to stop global warming or not and whether you believe global warming is man made or not, is now not a great time to start planning for a cleaner and better environment for tomorrow?

As this unfortunate situation has been thrust upon the world, should we take the opportunity to err on the side of caution where the environment is concerned?

As businesses have shown that they can make change quickly to re-tool to aid this crisis, then can other businesses also not do the same, especially as everything is at a stand still?

Whenever this crisis is over should we just go back to the way we were?

Can we go back to the way were?

Do you own a business… what do you think?

I realize there are costs to make change but wouldn’t that always be the case?

What do you think…?
