On this week’s New Music Releases we got a lot more great new music to review from recent releases of Katy Perry, Drake and Elisapie! Let’s get started!

What Makes A Woman

This is one of Katy Perry’s newest tracks off of her upcoming 5th studio album. Katy describes the song about how to truly measure what makes you a woman. The song is supposed to be an empowering anthem for women everywhere. The track also mentions Katy’s battle with depression which she overcame. With lyrics such as “Is it the way we keep the whole world turning? In a pair of heels? Yeah, that’s what makes a woman. There it is, Kathryn” Kathryn is Katy’s real name and these lyrics suggest that she is getting back on her feet again and is proud of the woman she has become.

Laugh Now, Cry Later

Drake teams up with Lil Durk to create this track, the song is supposed to represent to live in the moment and worry about life’s troubles and worries later with lyrics such as “Sometimes we laugh and sometimes we cry but I guess you know now baby”. This is Drake’s lead single off of his 6th album “Certified Lover Boy”. This is also Drake’s very first collaboration with Lil Durk

Asguuq

Lastly, we have a Canadian singer, songwriter, composer, and director Elisapie with her latest release ‘Asquuq’. The track is a cover of an Inuk country-folk artist Charlie Adams’s song. The track is supposed to pay tribute to Charlie Adams. Elisapie mentions when she recorded the song she could feel Charlie’s presence around her.
