Do you know an Indigenous youth aged 13-25 with an interest in making music? Ila Barker launches season three of AIRSessions this month, which invite youth to Indigenous-led music workshops throughout 2021. AIRSessions is hosted in part by the National Arts Centre, sākihiwē festival, Indigenous Family Centre, Indigenous Music and Music for Life.
To kick off the series, Indigenous rapper, Drezus, will join Ila for the launch event on February 18th. The launch is all about tapping into that creativity and prompts youth to “SING, WRITE, RAP, WHATEVER!” It is free to attend and open to all. Check it out on Facebook at 8PM.
Following the first event, all sessions, which include the likes of G.R. Gritt, P I Q S I Q, Leela Gilday, DJ Shub and more, will require registration and will be hosted on Zoom. Indigenous youth will be given priority, but others are welcome to attend if space permits.
