Canadian Music Week has announced the 2021 INDIES nominees. For it’s 20th year, Grimes leads with four nominations, with DVBBS, Snotty Nose Rez Kids and JJ Wilde right behind with three each. Some categories to watch include Indigenous Artist / Group or Duo of the Year, which includes nominees Buffy Sainte-Marie, Crystal Shawanda, Julian Taylor, Riit and Snotty Nose Rez Kids. As well, Pop Artist / Group or Duo of the Year features Delaney Jane, Felix Cartal, GUS, Loud Luxury, Shawn Hook and Virginia to Vegas. Meanwhile, Artist of the Year features nominees, Grimes, Lido Pimienta, Sarah Harmer, The Glorious Sons and William Prince.

The award show will feature footage from Toronto’s El Mocambo from several performers including nominees  July Talk, Sam Roberts Band, Half Moon Run and Monowhales, and special guests Walk Off The Earth, Iskwē and Tom Wilson.
