Even though the COVID-19 pandemic has put most of the world on hold, Mother’s Day will not be cancelled. Sure, we won’t be able to celebrate by going out to fancy dinners or engaging in other special activities. But there are still ways we can make this year’s Mother’s Day feel special.

Give calling and ‘Zooming’ a break and do it the old-fashioned way this year by writing a letter instead. Some say the art of letter writing is dead. But in the age of social distancing, a thoughtful hand-written letter can make an impact. It’s something physical that we can touch and keep with us and there’s something ritualistic about sending and receiving a letter. Your mom will be able to look at it for years to come!

Music is one sure way to uplift anyone’s spirits. Create a playlist with songs that express how you feel and how much you care about your mom. Virtual Spa Night
Give your mom the spa treatment this Mother’s Day by booking her a virtual hair consultation or fashion style appointment. Beauty Room is one spa that’s currently offering “Spa-At-Home kits.”
If this isn’t an option, you can choose to have an at-home spa night. Play some relaxing music, get some drinks and then chat away as you wait for your nails to dry.
Virtual Brunch Party
If you’re looking to go all out, this one is for you. Plan a virtual brunch for Mother’s Day by sending out an e-invite to all the guests, with the date, dress code and a list of items they will need to bring. Make sure to decorate the spot where you’ll be hosting from. Pro tip: invite a friend who considers themselves to be a skilled mixologist to help guide everyone in making their own specialty cocktails. You can take it a step further by ordering food.

Stratford Festival has a bunch of theatre shows that they are featuring as part of their Watch@Home series. They grouped together 12 of Shakespeare films into themes of social order, leadership, isolation, minds pushed to the edge and relationships. The National Theatre has also posted it’s production of Frankenstein with Benedict Cumberbatch as the creature on YouTube which you can check out here.
