The 2022 Golden Globe nominees were announced December 13th by Hollywood Foreign Press Association President, Helene Hoehne and beloved rapper, Snoop Dogg.

The association has come under scrutiny for a lack of diversity and representation. This year, they have made new changes, with a focus in shifting their code of conduct, rules and bylaws. The HFPA has added 21 new members to the voting committee who offer a “fresh perspective…and ideas that help [the HFPA] to evolve.” (ET Canada).

The Power of the Dog and Belfast lead with seven nominations each. Don’t Look Up, Dune and King Richard each have four nods.

The Best Musical or Comedy Television Series category includes the Indigenous-led drama / comedy, Reservation Dogs. It’s up against Ted Lasso, The Great, Hacks and Only Murders in the Building. 

Many musical icons received nominations this year, including Beyoncé whose song, “Be Alive”, featured in King Richard, is up for Best Original Song. Lady Gaga was recognized with a nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Drama for her role in House of Gucci, which is the only nomination for that film. Alana Haim is up for Best Performance by an Actress in a Musical or Comedy for Licorice Pizza.

The award winners will be announced on January 9, 2022. A format has not been announced at this time.
