‘Tis the season, and with the holidays fast approaching, here’s a look at what’s open and closed in Toronto over the holiday season.
If you’re looking to get around the city over the holidays, the TTC will be operating on a Sunday service schedule on both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
If you’re looking to pick up some last-minute groceries before family comes over, here’s what you need to know. Most major grocery stores in the city will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day. All LCBO and The Beer Store locations will also be closed. However, select Galleria Supermarket locations, various Rabba locations, The Food Depot at 155 Dupont Street, and select The Kitchen Table locations will be open on Christmas and New Year’s Day. Various Summerhill Market locations will also be open on Christmas Day. Please check your closest locations for hours of operation.
If you’re looking to dine out over the holidays, most major restaurant chains will be closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day. However, select Tim Hortons and Starbucks locations will be keeping their doors open. Some independent restaurants will also be keeping their doors open on Christmas and New Year’s Day. Please call ahead to see if your favourite restaurant will be doing this.
If you’re looking to get in any last-minute holiday shopping or scope out any deals before Boxing Day, most malls will be closed on Christmas Day. However, Pacific Mall will be open for regular hours on Christmas Day. If you want to ring in 2022 with some retail therapy, select malls such as Pacific Mall, Square One Shopping Centre, and CF Toronto Eaton Centre will be open on New Year’s Day.
If you want to plan an outing with friends or family, some attractions will be open over the holidays. If you want to get outdoors, the outdoor rink at Nathan Phillips Square will be open on both Christmas and New Year’s Day. Likewise, if you want to plan an indoor activity, movie theatres in the city will also be open on Christmas and New Year’s Day. Lastly, Ripley’s Aquarium will also be open on Christmas and New Year’s Day.
