Vince Fontaine, best known as the founder of the Juno Award-winning band Eagle & Hawk has passed away. The news was confirmed on Tuesday evening by his niece, Nahanni Fontaine on social media.
Fontaine also founded the Indigenous supergroup, Indian City, with William Prince, Don Amero, Pamela Davis, and Neewa Mason.
Outside of music, Fontaine was well known for helping out his community. Most recently, he was delivering hampers to some of Winnipeg’s most vulnerable residents on a weekly basis.
In 2018, ELMNT FM had the pleasure of interviewing Vince Fontaine. You can listen to that interview below.
Fontaine is survived by his wife and child.
