The Toronto Argonauts have won the 109th Grey Cup, narrowly taking down the Winnipeg Blue Bombers with a final score of 24-23. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers were hoping to earn a third consecutive title after winning in 2021 and 2019 (The Grey Cup championship was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
Backup quarterback Chad Kelly impressed after relieving McLeod Bethel-Thompson in the fourth quarter and leading the team to victory. Linebacker Hénoc Muamba was also celebrated, being named the game’s most valuable player and top Canadian.
In a post-game interview, Argonauts coach Ryan Dinwiddie hinted that Bethel-Thompson might be considering wrapping up his time with the Toronto Argonauts, saying “…[Bethel-Thompson’s] wife has a great job [as a writer for Disney], and he wants to spend time with his family,”
