Piegan Blackfeet actress Lily Gladstone made history at the 2024 Golden Globes on January 7th. Gladstone became the first Indigenous actress to win a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for their performance in Martin Scorsese‘s latest film, Killers of the Flower Moon.
Gladstone, who stars as Osage woman Mollie Burkhart in the film opposite Leonardo DiCaprio dedicated the award to Indigenous youth, saying “…this [award] is for every little rez kid, every little urban kid, every little Native kid out there who has a dream, who is seeing themselves represented and our stories told by ourselves, in our own words with tremendous allies and tremendous trust from each other”.
Gladstone also delivered a portion of their speech in the Blackfeet language.
