Bald eagle spotted in GTA for first time in years: conservation authority

A bald eagle’s nest has been discovered in Toronto for the first time in many years.

The bald eagle was once considered an “at-risk” species due to the insecticide DDT and elevated levels of heavy metals that harm its reproductive process, according to the Ontario Government.

Karen McDonald, Senior Manager of Restoration and Infrastructure at the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), asks the public not to seek the bird out for its safety as human disruption can disturb the development and security of the animal.

ELMNT FM spoke with the TRCA to learn more.
